PK181 - our lightweight - BIG BLUE when the heat is on

When natural convection is no longer sufficient for cooling temperature-sensitive electronic components, assemblies consisting of a conventional heat sink and a perfectly customised fan are generally used.

Normally, the air flows through the fins tangentially and laminar to ensure sufficient flow with low pressure loss even with longer heat sinks.

This cooling system, based on the PR181 cooling profile, differs significantly from all other cooling systems from ALUTRONIC: The surface for mounting the electronics to be cooled is not tangential to the direction of flow as in conventional cooling systems, but perpendicular to it. In order to bring the air into contact with the heat sink as efficiently as possible, the ribs are perforated in a transverse direction.

This forces the air into a turbulent flow which, in combination with SEPA's powerful axial fan, guarantees excellent heat exchange. The mounting surface is milled flat to ensure optimum heat transfer between the electronic component and the heat sink.
